That is the metal alone, at today's rate. The price shown on a piece adds the making, then VAT.

Where this rate comes from
The Dubai Jewellery Group publishes the day's gold rate for the UAE market. It is the same figure every shop in the souk works from, ours included, and it moves through the day rather than being set once each morning. The board above restamps itself, and the time it last changed is printed beneath it.
The metal
What the rate is, and what it is not
This is the price of the raw metal, per gram, at the stated purity. It is not what a finished piece costs. A piece adds the making — the labour of drawing, casting, setting and finishing — and then VAT. Two pieces of identical weight can differ in price because one took more work, not because the gold is different.
The karat
Why the five numbers differ
The percentages under each rate are what separates them. 24k is very nearly pure and soft enough to mark with a fingernail; 18k is three quarters gold and one quarter other metals, which is what makes it hard enough to wear every day. Everything sold on this website is 18k. The board carries the rest because people compare across them, and because the Sharjah and Dubai shops hold more than the website does.
The price
How the rate reaches the tag
Weight in grams, multiplied by the rate for that karat, plus the making, plus VAT. That is why every piece on this website states its weight: once you know the grams and the day's rate, you can see most of the way to the price yourself. It also means our prices move when the rate moves, rather than sitting at a fixed markup that quietly absorbs the difference.
