Men's gold in this region has never really gone away. What has changed is the register: where a generation ago it meant a heavy chain worn openly, today it more often means one considered piece worn constantly. Both are correct. What follows is how to choose either without getting it wrong.
Start with what you will wear every day
Most men end up wearing one piece almost permanently and keeping the rest for occasions. It is worth working out which piece that is before spending on the others. For most it is a chain; for some a ring; for a few a bracelet. Buy that one properly and the rest can wait.
Chains: width first, then length
Width carries more weight than style. Anything under about two millimetres reads as fine and will sit under a shirt; three to five millimetres is the everyday range that shows without announcing itself; above that is a deliberate statement and needs the frame to carry it.
- 50 cm sits at the base of the neck — visible above most collars.
- 55 cm sits at the collarbone. The most worn length for men here.
- 60 cm and above drops onto the chest and is usually worn over clothing rather than under it.
If in doubt, take a piece of string, hold it where you would want the chain to sit, and measure it. It is a better guide than any chart.
Rings and bracelets
A men's ring lives a harder life than most jewellery — it meets desks, steering wheels and gym bars. A slightly heavier band takes that better than a fine one, and a flat or slightly domed profile survives knocks better than a sharply detailed surface. For bracelets, measure the wrist snugly and add one and a half to two centimetres; a men's bracelet should move a little but not slide over the hand.
Why 18K
Higher karats are softer. For a piece worn every day and knocked about, 18K holds its shape and its detail better than 21K or 22K while still being unmistakably gold. Everything on our website is 18K, stamped with the hallmark; our branches carry other karats.

Is gold suitable for a man who works with his hands?
Yes, with sense. Choose a heavier, simpler profile and take rings off for heavy work. Gold is soft enough to mark, but marks polish out.
How do I know the chain will suit me?
Width should follow build rather than fashion. If you are unsure, come to either branch and try a few — five minutes with a chain in the mirror settles it faster than any amount of reading.
Can a chain be shortened?
